Edward Hopper captures the old movie palace |
I'm a person of many
interests and talents. A freelance writer and cartoonist, I also have a passion for theater, classic films, dance, travel,
Golden Age mysteries, Golden Age literature, all things British, high tea, sixties spy television, composition Shirley Temple
dolls, vintage hats, Art Deco furniture, bakelite jewelry, opera (love Maria Callas), magic tricks, circuses, wax museums,
cafes, train travel, vintage clothes and beautiful contemporary ones (that look vintage), arty earrings, flowers that attract
butterflies, wildlife (particularly fauna), animation (love Max Fleischer), Victorian houses with turrets and widows'
walks, "bad girls" (who are always better than "good girls"), Hammer horror, femme fatales, and sassy females like Joan Crawford!
I've always had a fondness for sheep and alligators/crocodiles. I wouldn't run with the wolves, but I always wanted
to swim cheek-to-jowl with a croc and track Siberian tigers in the taiga of Russia. Oh, well, there's only so much time,
isn't there?

of having people looking at me as if I was cheap!" - Joan Crawford in "Flamingo Road"

Scott, Karen and me in San Francisco after showing of "The Unknown" |
Scott runs "The Judy Room," a Judy Garland website,
and Karen leans more toward Judy than Joan, but she's a sport! We all had just seen a French print of "The
Unknown" at the Castro Theater with restored footage!
Me with Joan fans in San
Francisco for a screening of "Mildred Pierce." Gee, I feel like Joan -- surrounded by men!
To the left at the back is David Cerda who has a production company "Hell in a Handbag Productions" and is part
of a rock group, The Joans. The Joans all dress as Joan Crawford and sing Joan-themed songs.
